Blacksn0w, the iPhone unlock software is on the way

George Hotz, aka Geohot the world’s greatest iPhone hacker who doesn’t care about his identity is on it again. Geohot posted on his twitter page that he have found another exploit to unlock any iPhone that contains the 05.11.07 baseband found in the 3.1.2 iPhone software. This is good news for those who update their iPhone and lost their unlock in the hand of Apple’s official firmware for iPhone via iTunes. This new unlock tool will be release public worldwide on November 4, 2009 on http://blackra1n.com/ and better yet it does include hackivation! Today Geohot released the world’s first unlocked iPhone video for baseband 05.11.07

Sure enough, something else that everyone should take a look at is a post that Hotz wrote up on his blog regarding all of the websites out there that sell unlocks and jailbreaks to people who don’t know any better. These tools that jailbreak and unlock are free and don’t cost a penny. These people who run these sites truly are scum that are simply ripping a lot of iPhone owners off.
All we can do to help shut these sites down is to just spread the word. The more of us who are aware the better.

What is hackivation?
Every time you restore a iPhone you have to activate it with an Official Carrier SIM in order to have more than emergency calls. In most cases the iphone is bought in any other country so you don’t have any AT&T SIM (or any other official carrier) with you and you would be stuck.
